Description

The Buyer role provides business critical insight to Castle Metals by aligning with the global Supply Chain strategy and philosophy. A successful individual will be able to optimize inventory level as well as reporting periodically on progress around key performance indicators. Qualified applicants will demonstrate the ability to multitask and show a strong level of independence.

 

The Buyer will be based out of the office in Oak Brook, IL branch and will report directly to the Purchasing Manager.

Supply Chain Strategy:

  • Provides input into the development and enhancement of Supply Chain standards, policies, processes, and tools
  • Collaborates with team colleagues in the Supply Chain team to gain alignment around the implementation of supply chain initiatives
  • Leverage opportunities to educate the organization, and specially the Operations team, on our supply chain strategy (e.g., competitive validation, inventory optimization)

 

Inventory Optimization:

  • Responsible for issuing POs in Oracle Software System
  • Optimizes lead times by collaborating with the strategic sourcing team and the Mills in the AVL
  • Ensures effective, timely communication about lead times and order status to the sales team
  • Provides status updates to support regional and global functions
  • Supports the execution of local contingency plans

 

Financial Management:

  • Ensures departmental protocols and inventory governance are abided by
  • Works with Supply Chain & Commercial team members, leveraging opportunities for cost savings or optimal allocation of resources

 

Inventory Management:

  • Review forecasted demand on system generated recommendations
  • Ongoing review of all relevant shipment, backlog data vs. the current plan
  • Accountable for Inventory replenishment requirements
  • Provide recommended changes to the demand planning team
  • Understand supply / demand position of key SKUs on an ongoing basis
  • Provide a Check and Balance - "Eliminate Surprises"
  • Identify and proactively manage A. M. CastlesÍs inventory assets to minimize risks

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BachelorÍs Degree with preferred focus in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering or Finance
  • Develop and manage key reports utilizing Business Intelligence tools such as Oracle & BI.
  • 3 _ 5  years of experience in various areas of Inventory Management, Operations, including demand and supply planning is preferred
